Dana Christianson

Associate

Dana graduated from the University of Alberta Faculty of Law on the Dean’s List with First Class Standing. She was the Editor in Chief of the Alberta Law Review while in Law School and clerked with the Alberta Court of Appeal following graduation.

Dana began her career in private practice in 2011 with a large regional law firm, representing both union/employee-side and employer-side clients in a wide variety of labour and employment matters. Prior to focusing solely on labour and employment law, Dana also practiced in the area of Health Law. She has represented her clients before all levels of Court in Alberta and at the Supreme Court of Canada, as well as before labour arbitrators, the Alberta Human Rights Commission, the Alberta Labour Relations Board, the Workers’ Compensation Dispute Resolution and Decision Review Body and Appeals Commission, and the Law Enforcement Review Board. She provides strategic and practical advice on complex labour and employment matters, including collective agreement bargaining and disputes, employment contracts and disputes, human rights issues, and disability matters. Before joining Seveny Scott, Dana practiced as inhouse labour and employment counsel for a large public organization for five years. She is thrilled to now be back in private practice, focusing on employee/union-side representation.

Prior to embarking on her education and career as a lawyer, Dana obtained her Bachelor of Journalism and Bachelor of English (Highest Honours) from Carleton University, where she competed on both the Varsity Soccer and Cross Country Skiing Teams and was a Interuniversity Sport Academic All Canadian. Upon graduation, she became the Editor of a community newspaper in British Columbia before moving to Edmonton to work as an Associate Producer at CBC Radio.

When she is not working, Dana is usually running in the River Valley, skiing in the mountains, enjoying craft beers and good food, and spending time with her family.
