Dana Christianson

Dana is a Partner at Seveny Scott. She advises unions and associations on a wide range of labour relations matters and provides represenation before labour arbitrators, the Alberta Labour Relations Board, other administrative tribunals, and the Courts. Dana also advises and represents individual employees in all aspects of employment law, including wrong and constructive dismissal claims, fiduciary duty issues, confidential information and non-competition / non-solicitation agreements. She also advises and represents professionals in conduct matters with their regulators.
Dana has represented her clients before all levels of Court in Alberta and at the Supreme Court of Canada, as well as before labour arbitrators, the Human Rights Commission, the Alberta Labour Relations Board, the Workers’ Compensation Dispute Resolution and Decision Review Body and Appeals Commission, the Law Enforcement Review Board, RCMP Conduct Hearing tribunals, and various tribunals of professional regulators.
Dana teaches Employment Law at the University of Alberta. She is a member of the Alberta Human Rights Commission, where she hears and decides complaints made under the Alberta Human Rights Act.
Before joining Seveny Scott, Dana practiced with a large regional law firm representing both union/employee-side and employer-side clients in a wide variety of labour and employment matters and then as inhouse labour and employment counsel for a large public organization. Dana’s vast experience on both sides of labour and employment disputes is of great benefit to her current union and employee clients.
Dana graduated from the University of Alberta Faculty of Law on the Dean’s List with First Class Standing in 2010. She was the Editor in Chief of the Alberta Law Review while in Law School and clerked with the Alberta Court of Appeal following graduation.
Prior to embarking on her education and career as a lawyer, Dana obtained her Bachelor of Journalism and Bachelor of English (Highest Honours) from Carleton University, where she competed on both the Varsity Soccer and Cross Country Skiing Teams and was a Interuniversity Sport Academic All Canadian. Upon graduation, she became the Editor of a community newspaper in British Columbia before moving to Edmonton to work as an Associate Producer at CBC Radio.
When she is not working, Dana is usually running in the River Valley, skiing in the mountains, enjoying craft beers and good food, and spending time with her family.
